Montford Point Marines Visit Rockford

Rockford (WIFR) — In honor of Black History Month a special group of Marines were in Rockford sharing their stories of bravery.

The original Montford Point Marines spent the day at Memorial Hall. Those in attendance had the opportunity to interact with the Marines, while asking them a wide range of questions. The Marines also shared their stories of service from World War II. Currently, the Montford Point Marines Association has 36 chapters throughout the US.

The MPMA also has a national scholarship program in honor of Brooks Gray, who is one of the original founders of the organization.
