On behalf of The Montford Point Marine Association (MPMA) Chicago Chapter 2 members, we thank each and every person for their kind and thoughtful donations to help keep our Veteran’s facility open.
Veterans and all concerned have genuinely stepped forward to help maintain our purpose to provide a service to veterans and their families. MPMA now looks forward to a brighter vision of how the community can benefit more from the continued presence of Montford Point Marine Association at 7011 S. Vincennes.
MPMA membership is open to all military veterans, including a structure of support from their families within an Auxiliary and Society. We are humbly grateful for your concern and financial assistance through the Go Fund Me Page and other donations that have been made by mail and given in person directly to the Association.
Montford Point sends a special thank you to Comptroller Susana Mendoza, for her generous donation of $141,550! We will forever be grateful for her assistance to save Montford Point Marine Association’s Veteran facility.
MPMA will in the near future provide a public update with a full accounting of the total amount of funds that have been received. In addition we will share our plan of action of redeeming our taxes. Montford Point has received a new tax deadline of May 31, 2019. This extension will allow Montford Point to further explore options of collaboration with other concerned entities that want to help Montford Point move forward with the building repair issues.
Thank you again for your support for Montford Point Marine Association.

On March 24, 2018, the Veterans Assistance Commission of Cook County (VACCC) awarded Stanley Porter, United States Marine WWII, the Jim Proffitt Volunteer Award at the annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Awards Luncheon at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Chicago.
Mr. Porter is a World War II veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was one of the original African American Veterans admitted into the Marine Corps. And was trained at the segregated camp of Montford Point in 1942. For the remainder of the war, he served in combat as a 90mm anti-aircraft gunner in the Pacific, including on the Marshall Islands. Mr. Porter has remained active both within the Montford Point Marine Association, Chicago Chapter 2, and within the Coalition of Veterans Organizations. In 2011, Mr. Porter was active veteran advocate and exemplifies the finest attributes of the veteran’s movement through his selfless service to other veterans.

Dear Community Friend and Veteran Supporter:
The Montford Point Marine Association, Inc. (MPMA, Inc.) invites you to join us as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary, June 18, 2016 in Chicago, Illinois.
MPMA, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 non-profit veteran service organization established in June 1966 to perpetuate the legacy of the first African Americans who entered the Marine Corps. Our membership is open to veterans of all of the Armed Forces. Our purpose is to support education, advocate veteran programs, and promote community service. Now in existence for close to fifty years, MPMA, Inc. continues to strive to expand its programs and offerings to the community.
In order to meet our mission and provide services within our community, we rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses. So we’re asking for your support by placing an ad in our 50th Anniversary Journal. Your generosity will make a huge difference by allowing us to continue our community work and would be a great way to show your ongoing support to our Association and the legacy of the Montford Point Marines.
Again, we hope that you will be able to take part in one or more of the many exciting events we have planned during our 50th Anniversary Weekend (June 17-19, 2016) in Chicago, Illinois.
