Attention Student Vets in Chicago | Work-Study Opportunity at IDVA

The office of the incoming Acting Director in IDVA’s downtown Chicago Office has an opening for a VA Work-Study Staffer starting as early as July 21, 2014.  We are actively seeking a motivated, qualified student veteran to start in the coming weeks and continue into upcoming academic semesters (depending on the student’s expected graduation).
This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated student veteran to obtain hands-on, high-level policy and project management experience working with senior executive staff in a major state agency.  The individual will play a critical role in the management of programs, planning public events, crafting public policy, and helping coordinate a myriad of other activities.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicant must be a veteran eligible for VA Work-Study (enrolled this summer for at least ¾ of the time) in an approved college or vocation program.  See the attached application/guidelines for specific eligibility requirements.
DUTIES
·        Providing critical program management assistance pertaining to a number of high-priority focus areas (i.e. employment, education, health care, etc.);
·        Composing and distributing official correspondence, including professional letters, emails, event notices, invitations and issue updates on behalf of senior Department staff;
·        Planning and coordinating logistics for external and internal events; and
·        Assisting with communication and outreach efforts to veterans, veterans service organizations and other stakeholder groups.
